What’s Happening At All Saints’

Updated 08/31/2011

If you prefer to receive the All Saints Weekly by e-mail, please let us know at asecoffice@yahoo.com.  Announcements received by Wednesday will be published in the following Sunday bulletin.

New Survey to help further define who we are

The Discernment Committee has prepared a survey based on input from the focus groups to further clarify and quantify information about our parish that will help us in writing our church profile. The survey will be emailed to all members who have email addresses listed in the church directory.  For those who have not provided email addresses, we will mail paper copies of the survey.  In addition, paper copies of the survey will also be available in the foyer of the church.  Please take the time to complete the survey.  It will provide much needed (and quantifiable) information about our parish's values, concerns, and wishes for the future of our church.  If you have any questions about the survey, please contact Dawn Odell at dvo@lclark.edu or 503-788-2072.

Sunday 9:15am Forum Looks at Hospice and End of Life Issues

Over the summer we will view and discuss excerpts from Bill Moyers’ “On Our Own Terms,” a PBS special on dying.  This program shows us that the end of life can be an unexpectedly rich experience for the dying and their loved ones.  Today we will have a general discussion including information from Dr. Chip Taylor.

Women’s Bible Study begins Isaiah September 13

On September 13, the Women's Bible Study Group begins the study of Isaiah, one of the most beautiful books in the Bible with descriptions of God's soyereignty and judgment and the comforting message of the coming Messiah. Bring your Bible (or use one at the church), any translation will do, and come join us. The group has wonderful fellowship as we pray for God's guidance, read, and discuss what the passages mean to our lives and to our times. We meet at 9:30 on Tuesdaymomings in the Parish Hall--all women in the community are invited.

Beta Book Club Resumes September 14

The year begins with a discussion of “The Help.”  Get a copy, get reading, and plan to join us!  Every Wednesday evening, 7-8:30pm in the Guild Room.

The Annual Ice Cream Social and Fall Kick-off will be September 18
The annual Ice Cream Social, featuring hot dogs, a cake walk and lots of ice cream will take place at the church at 11:30 a.m.  This event is open to our neighbors and is a great opportunity for families to learn about programs for children and youth at the church.

Life-long Christian Formation Conference Sept. 24

“From Generation to Generation 2011,” the 2nd annual conference on Lifelong Christian Formation presented by the Diocese of Oregon, is scheduled for Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Trinity Cathedral. This year's keynote speaker will be Julia McCray-Goldsmith, Ministry Development Officer for the Episcopal Diocese of California. Registration information will be available soon and all are welcome.

Ministries Fair to celebrate and invite

Sept 25 at 11:30, the Ministries Fair will fill the parish hall with information about the various service and community ministry opportunities available at All Saints.  For more information contact Donna Woodruff at 503-655-2009 or edwoodruff@comcast.net.

Flowers at the Altar

Do you have a family event, an anniversary or a celebration that you would like to mark in a special way? Consider an offering of flowers for our Sunday services. There are many open dates on our "Flower Calendar" for you to note and celebrate a birthday, an anniversary, an achievement or a life. Contact Francine Titherington at Francine4homz@msn.com with the Sunday date you have in mind. Your support is appreciated.

Search Prayer – For a rector at All Saints

Almighty God, we thank you for your steadfast presence with us as we seek a faithful pastor to lead All Saints parish.  Guide the deliberations of the discernment and search committees.  Open our ears to hear your voice and to listen to one another.  Open our eyes to see the path ahead with clarity and discernment and to follow you in all things.  Open our hearts to the truth of your will for this congregation.  Help us to put aside all selfish desires and grant us energy for the journey, patience with the process, and courage in decision making. Send your Holy Spirit into our midst to bless and strengthen us and to call the shepherd priest that you have prepared for us.  In the name of your Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we pray.  Amen.
