In the Time of Pandemic
And the people stayed home. And they read books, and listened, and rested, and exercised, and made art, and played games, and learned new ways of being, and were still. And they listened more deeply. Some meditated, some prayed, some danced. Some met their shadows. And the people began to think differently.
And the people healed. And, in the absence of people living in ignorant, dangerous, mindless, and heartless ways, the earth began to heal.
And when the danger passed, and the people joined together again, they grieved their losses, and made new choices, and dreamed new images, and created new ways to live, and they healed the earth fully, as they had been healed.

Keep in Touch
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you would like to talk, and please let me know if you know of anyone who should be contacted for pastoral care. Also, please let me know if you get to a place where you are lacking the basics, such as food or medicine, either because of financial strain or inability to get out. There are ways that we can continue to take care of each other in the coming weeks while also observing appropriate distance.
Meetings & Ministries
We will also be moving many meetings online and adding some online meetings where we’ll have a chance to talk about what’s going on, pray together, etc. If you haven’t done a Zoom conference online before, you may want to start to get acquainted with this site. Simply follow this link and click on the “Sign up” button. For any meetings that happen, you will be sent a zoom link that takes you to the online meeting.
For our Saturday offerings, the Mustard Seed and St. Francis closet will be closing. However, we are working to make sure we can offer brown bag lunches for our Hot Meals guests.
Though we may be limited in our ability to be physically present to each other, there are still so many ways that each of us can be present — to one another, to what we ourselves are going through, and to the God who made us, loves us and walks with us. I encourage you to pay attention to God’s spirit and presence as you go throughout the coming days and weeks.
God of the present moment,
God who in Jesus stills the storm
and soothes the frantic heart;
bring hope and courage to all
who wait or work in uncertainty.
Bring hope that you will make them the equal
of whatever lies ahead.
Bring them courage to endure what cannot be avoided,
for your will is health and wholeness;
you are God, and we need you.
