Children’s Ministry – Church Sunday School

Children’s Ministry- Church Sunday School

Children are an integral part of the life and community at All Saints Episcopal Church.  Children are always welcome to participate in the services at All Saints.  Christ welcomed children who wiggle and giggle and so do we.

All Saints has two Church School classes, one for Preschool-aged children to 2nd Grade and one for 3rd through 6th Graders.  The Church School is each Sunday at 10:15 A.M. in the Church’s Sunday School Room and Godly Play Room (lower level of Keiter Hall), every 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th Sunday of each month.  The Sunday School format is “Godly Play,” Jerome Berryman’s interpretation of Maria Montessori’s model for religious education.  It is an imaginative approach to working with children that supports, challenges, nourishes and guides their spiritual quest and is more akin to a spiritual practice than to what we generally think of as a religious education.  Part of Godly Play is the “Children’s Feast.”  This feast serves children in two ways, as a communion time for the children and as a feasting fellowship time.  After Church School, the children are led back to their families in the Sanctuary for the Eucharist.

Children's Sermon 2 2013

Time With the Children on Youth Sunday with Mother Laura and Laura Axon, Children’s Ministry Coordinator

Youth Sunday

The 4th Sunday of each month is Youth Sunday, in which many parts of the 10:15 A.M. Church Service are led by All Saints youth.  The homily or sermon is geared especially towards the children.  This service is in place of the regular Church Sunday School program on this 4th Sunday of each month.

Child Care

AS4-SS-webAll Saints provides Child Care during the 10:15 A.M. Sunday Service for children age 3 and younger.  Child Care is in the lower level of Keiter Hall, next to the Sunday School rooms.  You are welcome to utilize this space and stay with your child or leave your child in the care of our SAFE Church-trained nursery workers.  Of course, you are welcome to keep your child with you at the service in the Sanctuary, as well.

In all Church School rooms we use non-toxic cleaning supplies.  We take into consideration each child’s dietary needs and restrictions.
