The Altar Guild is a dedicated (behind the scenes) group of men and women whose primary mission is to prepare and maintain our sanctuary for use by God’s family. We prepare and maintain the altar and elements to be used in the Eucharistic Service (bread, wine, linens, napkins, chalice, etc.) for regular Sunday Worship Services, Special Services for Lent, Easter, Christmas, Baptisms, Wedding and Funeral Services, as well as other special events. We make sure the consecrated elements are in place in the tabernacle when needed and fill the Eucharist kits for the Eucharistic Ministers. We prayerfully and properly clean all Eucharistic vessels, paying special attention to how items are handled and cleaned and how remains of consecrated elements are disposed of. Additional responsibilities include placement of altar flowers and candles, and care of all linens. All of the work of the Altar Guild is done in a spirit of reverence and prayerfulness. Making worship for our congregation and friends is truly the Guild’s privilege.
There are Altar Teams for each Sunday of the month. Members coordinate to set up for the Sunday 8:00 A.M. and 10:15 A.M. Services and to take down after the 10:15 A.M. Service. Each team has a member responsible for the Altar and flower arrangements, too. Altar Guild meets on the 1st Monday of each month October through June and on the 2nd Monday in September in the Guild Room at 7:00 P.M.
